The academy will provide information about competitions, as these are considered an important part of the student’s experience. While the student is encouraged to participate, this is not a requirement of the school, and the school takes no responsibility beyond registration of the students in these competitions and sharing the rules and regulations provided by each event. If an accompanist is required, the academy may either provide one (for a stated fee) or make available a list of accompanists willing to perform this function.
A Fall and Spring recital are provided to all performance students. At the end of the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters, all students perform for a jury. They are critiqued by the staff of their focused instrument. This allows for consistent monitoring of a student’s growing musical ability. Students are also eligible to compete in various music competitions throughout the year.
